Important Information – Noise Monitoring & Community Support

Dear Resident,

We are writing to inform you about the upcoming Hide&Seek Festival, which returns to Capesthorne Hall on Saturday 5th July 2025, running from 11:00am to 11:00pm. As a valued member of the local community, we want to keep you informed and provide you with clear channels of communication during this period.

Sound Checks

To prepare the sound systems in advance of the event, intermittent sound checks will take place on Friday 4th July between 3:00pm and 9:00pm. These checks ensure that volume levels are professionally configured and remain within licensed limits throughout the festival.

Helicopter Arrival – Saturday 5th July

This year, one change to our operations will be the arrival of a helicopter carrying a performing artist duo. The aircraft is scheduled to land on the front lawn at Capesthorne Hall at approximately 5:00pm.

This operation will be conducted in full compliance with aviation regulations, with appropriate insurance and risk measures in place. While short-term overhead noise may peak during landing and take-off, measured at approximately 84.6 dB(A) at typical overhead distance, we anticipate slightly higher levels momentarily during the approach. These operations are expected to last only a few minutes.

We are working closely with our aviation partners to ensure a swift, safe, and efficient arrival, and our appointed acoustic consultants will be monitoring environmental noise impact throughout.

Monitoring & Compliance

Noise control at the festival is independently managed by Acoustic and Engineering Consultants Ltd (AEC), who are accredited by the Institute of Acoustics. They are responsible for conducting regular decibel meter readings at multiple locations both on-site and in the surrounding area, measured in 15-minute intervals and ensuring that all levels remain compliant with local authority license conditions.

If any readings exceed permissible thresholds, adjustments are made immediately by the event’s production management to reduce impact.
