Update from Network Rail:

Dear Neighbour,

Railway work near your home – Woodland management works at Chelford

We’re getting in touch to let you know we’ll be carrying out work near your home soon to keep the railway safe and reliable.

This work will involve removing trees on railway land from behind the station platforms at Chelford station and in the vicinity of Knutsford Road bridge that are within striking distance of the track and therefore posing a hazard to passing trains and key infrastructure such as the overhead line equipment. Subject to local authority consent, we will also be pruning back third-party trees adjacent to Chillingham Close.

Programme

Wherever possible these works will be taking place during daytime hours from 5 October to 9 October, Monday to Friday between the hours of 08.00 – 17.00 and from 9 November to 13 November, Monday to Friday between 08.00 – 17.00. For safety reasons however some work can only safely be carried out when train services are not in operation, and these are currently proposed to take place as follows:

23:00 on Saturday 3 October – 07:00 on Sunday 4 October

23:00 on Saturday 7 November – 07:00 on Sunday 8 November

Before work starts, we carry out an ecological survey as well as ongoing daily checks. If any protected species or nesting birds are identified, appropriate methods of working will be put into place.

To undertake the work, we will use a variety of equipment including chainsaws, lighting, and chipping machines. Every effort will be made to keep controllable noise to a minimum and our staff are briefed on working responsibly in the local community.
