During November, Cheshire Constabulary will be supporting a national campaign aimed at keeping knives off the streets by directly targeting knife carriers as well as educating young people about the dangers and impact of choosing to carry a blade.
The force remains determined to reduce the number of knives carried across the county, with efforts in tackling knife crime being intensified through enforcement and engagement initiatives that will be held across the county’s seven main regions during the week of action.
Activities during the week-long operation will include community knife sweeps, the execution of warrants in relation to knife crime, engagement in the community, knife surrender bins being deployed and the stepping up of patrols in hotspot areas.
Local officers will be holding knife amnesty drop in session which will be held at Knutsford Police Station. Members of the public are welcome to come along to the helpdesk during the hours stated below to hand in a bladed article.
Please note, that Knutsford Police Station helpdesk is not staffed or open to the public day to day. If you wish to go to a station with a helpdesk open regulary to the public then please visit Macclesfield Police Station.
The amnesty gives members of the public the chance to dispose of a knife anonymously with no questions asked, by simply depositing it into the amnesty bin with the support of officers. Those surrendering knives are not required to give any personal details.
