We’re continuing to deliver thousands of new food waste caddies to our residents, ahead of the introduction of weekly food waste collections this autumn. A total of more than 182,000 caddies and bins are being delivered and so far, almost 85,500 have made their way to households.
Please remind residents not to start using their caddy when it arrives. Collection routes are still being finalised, and residents will be able to check the start date for their food waste collections and any changes to collection days from mid-September at cheshireeast.gov.uk/mycollectionday.
What else is changing for waste collection in Cheshire East?
- Food waste will be collected weekly
- Black bin (general waste) collections will move to every three weeks
- Silver recycling bin collections will continue as fortnightly
- Garden waste collections will remain as fortnightly for residents subscribed to the garden waste recycling scheme
The new service is part of the Government’s Simpler Recycling legislation and will help ensure more waste is recycled and turned into useful products such as compost.
